Manchester United on-loan forward Mason Greenwood. — AFPGetafe president Angel Torres weighed in on Manchester United's on-loan star Mason Greenwood's next club, saying that Barcelona would be an "ideal fit" for the left-footed star. The 22-year-old forward is currently playing his trade at LaLiga club Getafe, following Manchester United's decision to relocate him from Old Trafford following an internal investigation.

Greenwood faced charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour in January 2022. However, all charges were subsequently dropped in February 2023.Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new minority owner overseeing football operations, hinted that United might reconsider their stance on Greenwood once his loan spell at Getafe concludes. After an absence of more than 20 months from competitive football, the United academy graduate has tallied five goals and five assists in 21 matches this season. His contract with the Red Devils extends until June 2025.Several top European clubs, including Barcelona, have shown interest in Greenwood, and Getafe's chief Torres believes the Nou Camp would be a suitable destination for the talented forward.“He is very comfortable and crazy about staying another year,” Torres said to Spanish radio station COPE.“It’s a matter that they [United] have to decide. There is new ownership. They have to decide.“In Spain, he has a market. Barca’s way of playing would suit him well but it depends on Manchester United. If it’s true, he’ll tell me.”Ratcliffe has left the possibility open for Greenwood to return to play for United, following his acquisition of a 27.7 per cent stake in the club.“We will make a decision and we will justify it,” the INEOS chief said via The Athletic.“He’s on loan obviously but he’s not the only one. We’ve got one or two footballers that we have to deal with and we have to make a decision so we will do that“The process will be: understand the facts not the hype and then try and come to fair decision on the basis of values which is basically is he a good guy or not, and answer could he play sincerely for Manchester United well and would we be comfortable with it and would the fans be comfortable with it.”
